This white 12% alcohol wine scored 12 Dionysian points, making it commercial, but not collectable; however,  it’s unique. The 2001 Monsoon Valley Malaga Blanc is from the Chao Phraya Delta in Thailand. It is Vitis vinifera and has a light floral aroma, but is low on acid. This bottle notes that it is from the Buddhist Era 2544 and it’s the “summer Harvest.”

They harvest twice a year, from small boats floating between the rows. Once the leaves are removed, the plant starts all over again. The grape has been there for over 200 years and is planted north of the Gulf of Siam.

They call it a “floating vineyard” because of the water between the rows. It does go with spicy foods, but does not benefit from aging. In vino veritas.
