The 2007 New Jersey dessert wine, Hopewell Valley Dolce Vita cost under $20 for 375 ml, has 12.4% alcohol and scored a fine 16 points on the Dionysian 20-point scale.  Dionysian, Gary Pavlis, Ph.D., provided a background on this wine during the dessert course at A Modo Mia Restaurant in Sea Isle City, NJ, USA. We poured for the waiters too.

Served with cheese cake, a fruit tart and a 3rd dessert of apple crumb cake, it did its job; refreshing the mouth after each forkful. Sweet wines never pair with the main entree, subtle dessert wines are heavenly. In vino veritas.

Dessert wines should also have enough acid, like this one, to refresh your palate.
