Scoring 15+ points on the Dionysian scale of 20, the 2007 La Pisara Salento Primitivo had 13% alcohol, and cost under $18.

Zinfandel came from Croatia, but it make a stop in Italy for a while as Primitivo. At 13 years old, it was peaking. Soft tannins, still with a deep color, and still an excellent food wine.

Served with a red sauce pasta meal and then with cheese afterwards. I use to drink my Primitivo younger, but now I like them at eight to 12 years old.

Thee was a slight golden edge on the wine, but spice, black pepper and some black fruits showed on the nose. La Pisara is bottled by Moletto. It’s a very good buy. In Vino Veritas.
