With 14% alcohol, scoring 15+ points on the Dioinysian scale, and costing about $16, the 2008 Chateau Pontac Monplaisir from Pessac- Leognan, a part of Graves in Bordeaux worked with dinner.

It was only 11 years old. Bordeaux starts to peak at ten through 25 years.

It was still ruby, had little sediment, and was a basic, okay, red wine. The vintage year. 2008, was not a great one.

I opened it early (young) because of the vintage. Its nose was red fruits over a hint of woodIMG_6308

Alcohol creeks up in Bordeaux, but not as fast as California. Graves wines have more mineral and acids and usually age longer than other reds.

Beef, a rice blend, and broccoli paired nicely with the simple French wine.

The area is better known for its white wines, but their reds will satisfy you desire for a red.  In Vino Veritas.
