With a high 15% alcohol, its only drawback, the 2016 Do Tejo Bridao Reserva is purple and still a baby. It cost under $15 and scored a good 16+ points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20. Why so young for a big red? That’s how you learn about aged complexity. Take notes on what you drink.

It is a blend of the great Touriga Nacional grape and , Alicante Bouchet, Tinta Roriz, and Syrah. It’s like a light jam to be spread on bread.

It’s red, but light and fruity. I had it with a shrimp – pasta dish and it worked well. It’s three years old; I hope to taste it again when it’s sixteen.

Filled with red fruits, and some black raspberry and plum, the wine has good acids for such a high alcohol example. It’s  medium weight on the tongue, not heavy. There is a long earthy finish. It is bright purple, a sign of extreme youth. I’ll age a few bottles for a decade.  This is a must buy wine.  In Vino Veritas.
