This 17 point Saint-Emilion Grand Cru has 14% alcohol and cost $35. The 2010 Chateau du ValD’Or is a Grand Cru Saint-Emilion from the Bordeaux area in France and was made from 86% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc which is where it got its rose pedal notes.
The 2010 vintage was excellent and this wine will age at least two or three decades. It was a deep crimson color, with black fruits and subtle vanilla. It was full bodied and had lots of young tannin. Age it and you’ll be rewarded. In vino veritas.
