This  Bordeaux from Lalande de Pomerol has 13.5% alcohol and scored 16+ points on the 20-point Dionysian scale. 2010  Clos des Trois Croix is 100% Merlot and has soft tannins, a black currant and blueberry nose.

The 2010 vintage produced excellent wines all over Bordeaux and I expected this one to have a good body, be balanced and have a lingering aftertaste. It did. The wine could have easily been cellared for a decade, maybe two.

Like Pomerol, this Lalande de Pomerol, the appellation just north of Pomerol is based on the Merlot grape.

This is classic food wine.  Costing $20, it was was served with a lamb-based dish that Joanne made from a few recipes. Dionysians Vince and Susie Winterling helped me review a series of Bordeaux recently, and I thank these Dionysian members for their help. In vino veritas.

Fresh salad included pear chunks, green & yellow string beans, the last of the season, and lamb patty mixed with Feta cheese and chives topped with yogurt & cucumber mix over a think slice of Jersey tomato. It screamed for Bordeaux.
