With 13% alcohol, Bobal is a Spanish Grape that can be made like Beaujolais, but has more flavor and complexity than its French neighbor. Bodegas De Utiel makes the 2010 Nodus Bobal.

It’s a light red, scoring 15+ on the 20 point Dionysian scale. That makes it a “John Mahoney Selection”. Bobal is light-bodied with a medium length aftertaste. It has plum, currant, and some earthy wood notes that helps with food. Seek out a bottle and enjoy it on your deck.

Served with Joanne’s brown rice, string beans hinted with butter and chicken stuffed with prosciutto and freshly picked basil. The wine worked well.  Good wine and food like this makes Wednesday dinner special! In vino veritas.

Bobal is an ideal food wine because of its high acid.
