This 12.5% alcohol Chardonnay scored 14+ points on the 20-point Dionysian scale used to judge wines, and it went very well with the halibut dinner.

The wine was aged briefly in older French oak barrels ( 3 months) to give it just a touch of butter, but it retains its floral aromas. It’s a nice food wine for white meat, fish and cheese or pasta dishes without tomato sauces. Great quality for under $15.

An inexpensive Chardonnay to have with a fish dinner.

The 2010 Tariquet Chardonnay comes from the slopes of Gascogne in France. It was designed to pair with food! Wines like this are for everyday drinking and should be bought by the case.

The halibut was perfect for the wine and a great way to end a busy summer’s day with dinner on the back deck.

The side was onions and zucchini and the halibut was sprinkled with white pepper and covered with carrots and leeks done in olive oil.
