Chateau Guiraud makes one of the very best Sauternes. Their 2010, second label, Petit Guiraud, at 13.5% alcohol,  scored 17+ points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20. Costing under $25, the wine is rich and balanced with honey and apricot aromas.

Serve ice cold as a pre-dinner drink or chilled with creme brûlée for dessert.

Sauternes is the ideal finish to any cool weather meal either at home or dining out. Great Sauternes, like this one, start sweet and quickly finish refreshingly dry because of a proper acid balance. In vino veritas.
