The 2010 Rhebokskloof Semillon called “The Secret Corner” from South Africa is at peak. With 13.5% alcohol, costing about $20 and scoring 15 Dionysian Points on it 20-point scale, the wine exhibits fig, citrus and subtle waxy notes. Its five years gave it time to round out.

Carried back from South Africa by Julie Kim, of California, and shared with us. It was matched with turkey and potato and is an excellent food wine.

The Secret Corner is considered the best area from the Rhebokskloof vineyards. Semillon is rarely seen by itself; it’s usually blended with Sauvignon Blanc as in White Bordeaux.  Well worth the money. In vino veritas.
