With a perfect 12% alcohol, the 2011 Robertson Winery Gewurztraminer Special Late Harvest cost under $20 and scored a silver medal score of 17 Dionysian points.

The spicy aroma was filled with herbal qualities; it was medium weight and had a long finish of honeysuckle, ripe pear and even rose petals.

The hints of honey suggested that the grapes had some botrytis on them, which left an almost Sauternes-like quality.

At six years old, this dessert wine was at its peak, but could still mature for another five years.  In Vino Veritas.
