2012 Ode Panos Spiropoulos is a 12% alcohol Greek sparkling wine made with all Organic Grapes. The light straw color and dried rose petal aromas make this bottle of bubbles ideal for starters at any meal.

It scores a 16+ on the 20 point Dionysian scale and for about $15 to $17 it is a great deal. Greek sparkling wines have a veracity and intensity of freshness that even regular Champagne drinkers will enjoy. The wine finishes with a creamy flavor that lingers. The sparkling wine is made in the Traditional Method and has a strong nose of the Moschofilero grape.

For bubbles, Champagne is best known, but every region of France makes a sparkling wine. The Leelanau Peninsula in Michigan is quickly becoming an American area to seek out for bubbles and if you like this Ode Panos, you’ll enjoy a sparkling Gruner-Veltliner from too.

This Greek one comes from the Arcadia region. I buy it by the case and serve it to guests as they arrive for dinner, or just an afternoon of debate and conversation.  In vino veritas.
