With 15% alcohol, and costing about $14, the 2014 VistaAlba Corte B from Argentina scored 14+ points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20.  Lots of Malbec shows through, and at five years old, it should have begun to mellow some. It’s for now and I doubt it will improve greatly over the next five years.

This red is a blend and is an easy drink except for the excessively high alcohol.

Mendoza was hot when I was there, just as 2014 was, and these grapes could have been picked sooner to limit the alcohol. My guess is that it’s really higher than 15% and the labeling laws permit some variation. I’d use it at parties where no one is studying the wine. In Vino Veritas.
