At 14,5% alcohol, the 2010 Ironstone Vineyards Reserve Cabernet Franc scored 16+ points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20. It is still very young; deep purple-red in color with a lavender edge. It had rose petal, red berry, and some herb notes in its aroma. A very nice food wine.
The wine was Estate Grown in the Sierra Foothills. There were only 120 cases produced so it’s very hard to find. Wines that cost near $30 should have great complexity and this one does. I wish the alcohol were a bit lower.  Cabernet Franc is a great food-wine red; more subtle than Cabernet Sauvignon.  In Vino Veritas.
