The 2019 Mapreco Vinho Verde Rose’ cost about $10, has 10.5% alcohol (ideal for a hot day) and scored a pleasant 15 points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20.

Vinho Verde translated as “green wine” doesn’t mean the wine is green; it’s a wine from a more lush green area of Portugal and they are usually white wines with a bit of spritz. The Rose’ has spritz too.

An obvious hint of sweetness shows. It is an easy drink and with the low alcohol, it disappears too quickly.

The wine has more color than Provence Rose’ wines, but it’s filled with strawberry, even a hint of cherry and is clean. You can’t ask for much more from a low-costing, refreshing summer Rose’ wine. The 2019’s are out now and like most Rose’ wines, they should be consumed during this, or next year. In Vino Veritas.
