Even thought this wine came from a poor vintage, the 1968 Chateau Pape Clement from Graves in Bordeaux surprised us all and scored 17+ points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20.
It was filled with tobacco, sweet leather and still had hints of black currant.

Proper aging of even lesser vintage years can provide special tasting experiences. At 47 years old, it had extended its peak.
It has 12% alcohol and was reviewed with Dionysian Mark Imbesi and his wife Marianne. Graves is an area in south Bordeaux that produces long-lived wines. On release, in 1971, it cost about $7.99 , today, they’re in the hundrends. Old complex wines should be paired with very simple dishes. In vino veritas.
