The NV Giersberger Cremant d’Alsace Rose’ from Cave de Ribeauville scored 17 points on the Dionysian scale (it scored 92 points in the Wine Spectator’s Best Buys) has 12% alcohol, and cost under $20.

It is 100% Pinot Noir and reflects a lot of cherry and raspberry in the nose. The corks are still very hard to withdraw, like many younger white wines, but this is a great mouth-full of creamy bubbles, balanced acids, and refreshing flavors going right into its aftertaste.

Served with, not prior to, a shrimp and pasta dinner. It paired very well and kept your mouth refreshed with new sip.

Their back label says drink now and up to two years; I believe it will last at least eight years and improve with each year. It has a bit less pressure than Champagne, (as it should) but bubbles from Alsace above Champagne’s region in France have been a favorite for two decades. Try some. In Vino Veritas.
