Never start a meal without bubbles, so the Gustave Lorentz Cremant D’Alsace Brut , at 12% alcohol, was a find! It scored 17 Dionysian points, and cost under $25.  Refreshing, clean acids and minerals, and a touch of floral spice on the nose.

With a little less pressure than Champagne, this Cremant rewards you with purity and flavor. With almonds, olives, and tiny pieces of crusted bread, it was the perfect wine to use to start a simple meal.

Two other tasters gave it 18 points each, so be sure it’s a wine that will please nearly every sparkling wine drinker.  It feel that it can age some and will also be very nice in five years, so don’t worry about buying it by the case.   In Vino Veritas.
