At 32 years old, the 1986 Mommessin Meursault white Burgundy was at peak! It scored 19 points on the Dionysian scale of a possible 20.  With an ideal 13% alcohol, and costing less than $20 when I got it, The wine was filled with pear, white peach, hints of melon and creamy vanilla. Big, round, and mouth-filling, Mommessin is famous for top end Burgundies and this well aged examples proves it.

This is a wine to savor with good old friends and it’ll paired well with chicken, pork, pasta with a white sauce, and some seafood, or just with nuts and Monterey Jack.

Crusted Sea Scallops and sweet corn helped show off the white Burgundy. It was outstanding !

I’m aging some 2002’s and some 2015’s right now and hope I can experience then in 20 years.  In Vino Veritas.
