The 2013 Franklin Tate Estates Chardonnay from Margaret River in Australia has 12.9% alcohol, cost about $15, and scored 16 fine points on the 20-point Dionysian scale.
Served with chicken, rice and grilled shallots, the wine married nicely. It’s yellow – gold color predicted a rounded, lightly oaked wine with good acid.
The wine is ready now at six years old, but I believe it could age for another five years to round out without depleting any of its food-wine qualities. In Vino Veritas.
