Scoring 18+ points out of the Dionysian scale of 20, the 1999 Louis Jadot Corton-Charlemagne white Burgundy was nearly perfect. With 13.5% alcohol and costing under $55, the 27 year-old white Burgundy  had peaked.

Coming from a great producer, the wine was buttery, with medium weight, and had apple and limestone notes.

It’s a food wine, balanced and with good acid, it clears the mouth for each new forkful. It would also be a great sipping wine with Burgundy lovers.

The wine married well with port tenderloin. This white comes from the village of Aloxe-Corton in the Cote de Beaune, and is one only six Grand Cur whites!  I shared an earlier bottle of this with Dionysians Vince and Susie Winterling two years ago, and all agreed it was sublime. In vino veritas.

The pork and the wine paired nicely. Sauerkraut as a side, helped the wine and the port to taste sweeter.  After drinking this bottle (slowly) it’s  sad to know it was my last bottle… of this wine.
