This 13.5% alcohol Greek beauty scored 15 Dionysian points from a possible 20.  The 2012 “Young Vines” Xinomavro was bottled unfiltered in Naoussa, a protected designation of origin. The Greek grape, Xinomavro can be made like Beaujolais, like this one was, or made like a full Burgundy or even a medium Merlot style.

It had red fruits on the nose, was medium-bodied and a respectful aftertaste.

Xinomavro is a grape that can be made into many different styles.

The grapes came from the Thymiopoulos Vineyard and cost under $15. It’s imported by Athennne Importers. It was the perfect simple wine to pair with the most basic American meal: hotdogs and beans. In vino veritas.
